Build your own scrapbook area
For some time now, Target has carried build your own scrapbook area shelves and accessories for all your storage needs. Craft Warehouse recently began carrying them as well, and they have additional pieces not available at Target. Although, unless CW is having a sale, I recommend only buying the pieces that are different there, as they tend to be more expensive.

You can see some of Target's collection here. They're made of wood (particleboard, probably) with a white laminate on the outside. They're pretty sturdy. I've already bought a number of these.

The thing I really like is that they have metal dowels that can be used to attach the pieces together as you stack.

They're typically around $24.99/each.

Some links to reviews and photos using these products:
Here's an online review of the cubes, including some pictures.
A photo using some of the cubes, including the glass front ones.
These appear to be the same cubes... and they carry the hanging file folders!
Another setup
And another- this one has the rounded end shelf

Some of the items:
Three drawer cube
Four shelf cube (great for paper shelves)
Four drawer cube
2 desktop organizers (these are half as deep as the cubes... they cost less as well)
2 scrapbook desktops (these can be used as shelves between the cubes or as a tabletop to make your area into a desk - not available in most Target stores)

There's also a rounded end shelf, 12x12 file drawer, cubes with a glass front, a spinning organizer that has drawers and places for your pens and such, and more. I'm planning to pair mine up with some of the storage solutions that Target has in their storage area (some of it can be seen online here). It's not the same company, but it's the white laminate covered, so it will match. Plus it has larger pieces, like shelves and cabinets.

I'll try to get a picture of my scrapbook area and post it online so you can see how it works. I love it, because my area is so organized now.

Some other storage suggestions:

Traveling with 12x12 pages
Crop In Style has the Paper Sticker binder and it zips closed. Instead of putting stickers in there, you can use the 12x12 refills and put pages in. I know a woman that puts all her pages like in one of those until it is time for an album. Works great for traveling and keeps your pages safe. She evens sews a cool handle on it.

Storage boxes for 12x12 paper

I too had a frustration with trying to find something - ANYTHING - to store my 12 x 12 papers in. I was looking at scrap room setups on the internet and found a person who purchased put-together wire storage boxes at Costco. For $19.99 you get enough 13 x 13 wire/grid pieces to build 8 boxes (I think it's 8!). You build 4 of the boxes, stack them on top of each other then use the other wire/grid pieces to use as shelves inside the boxes attaching them with wire ties. I got 17 shelves and plan to buy another one. That's $40 for 34 shelves. Works great!!

Cubes at Costco
They are called Creative Cubes "Interlocking Grid Storage System." At Costco, they were near the hardware/tools section .. near the toolbags and such. The box is white and violet and has a big number 8 on every side. They are $18.99.

Various storage ideas
I have done the same thing! On one of the top ones, I left it open on top and put the extra wire thingy on the front side and made a hanging file. I have a few large hanging folders from a big rolling bag I used to have that work well in them. This seems to be a good set up for me. I will try to take a digital pic sometime when it is less messy!!! Another organizational tip--the Martha Stewart stuff at Kmart! They have frosted plastic covered bins that are cheap and way cool--I have one for adhesives, one for beads and wire, one for my pics, one for card making supplies, etc. They also have plastic containers w/little dividers in them and a lid that snaps shut--they are perfect for embellishments such as brads, eyelets and buttons. I have 2 completely stuffed full!! I need to go get another one. Another thing I have done is bought those clear plastic picture frames and use them for pull-out trays for my punches. I think they are 11x14 ones maybe?? They have them for about $4 at Target!
Paris *almost organized!!!

Cubes at Target
You can also get the cubes at Target. I think you only get enough to make 6 complete cubes, and they are only white or black, but often on sale. HTH those who do not have a Costco near, but maybe a Target :)

I bought my cube storage system at Target (122nd) on sale for $14.99, looks like they are made by Tricam.

How to Make 12 x 12 Hanging File Folders

1. Get yourself 3 legal size hanging file folders.
2. Cut one along the bottom fold. You will now have 2 long top sides (a).
3. Cut one exactly in the middle of each side. You will have two short top sides (b) and one short bottom piece (c).
4. Cut one along the wire hanger of each side. Remove the wire. You will have one long bottom piece (d).
5. Get some wide tape (like clear packing tape).
6. Tape long top sides (a) to short bottom piece (c).
7. Tape short top sides (b) to long bottom piece (d).
I bought a box of 25 from Staples and used all of them -- works like a charm! I line these with a split open 2 gal. ziplock bag to prevent acid from the folders from getting into my paper.

Rubbermaid Bins
At walmart they have 18 gallon rubbermaid bins with wheels. These are just the right width to hold a legal sized file folder hanging rack, altho you will have to cut the rack down a bit lengthwise. (the adjustable length ones are designed to be cut down) 12x12 paper will stick up out of the top of the legal file folders, but this doesn't seem to be a problem. I haven't had anything creased or anything, and most paper/cardstock stands up straight on its own. The lid fits on and rests just above the 12x12 paper. So if you had a ton of paper, you could even stack them when you aren't scrapping. Hope that helps!
