Arts & Music

Music

Music is a big part of my life.

I go crazy if I can't play music. Sometimes, I don't even listen to music, but I know that if I want to, I can. I enjoy participating in music just as much as I love listening to it and seeing it preformed.

I have taught myself how to read music and how to play the piano. I can play some songs, but it takes me a while before I can play a new song well. I want to get good enough to play Tori Amos on the piano.

As far as music goes, I like it all except rap. As a whole, I do not like rap music, but there are a few songs that I do like. I adore classical music, especially Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Ravel. I absolutely adore Classical Music- it is great to listen to.

Jars of Clay is the best. I got to meet them and do an interview when they were in Houston a while back- they signed the booklet from my CD. Sarah McLaughlin, Tori Amos, and Live are favorites of mine.

I always loved NKOTB, especially Jordan. He now has a solo career and his own web site. Joe McIntyre has also gone solo. Jordan's newest album, Love Songs is one of my favorite CDs. It's always in the car with me so I can listen to it anytime. It is great for turning up loud and flying down the freeway.

I also love Swing music, and have liked it for several years now. I love the movie Swing Kids and watch it all the time. One of the actors in it, Christian Bale, is well known now for movies such as Batman Returns.   I like Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Louis Prima.

The Arts

I absolutely adore the arts- whether it's a play, a musical, an opera, a statue, a drawing or a painting, I love them all. I haven't had much of a chance to visit the museums since moving to Oregon; however, there is a good amount of art throught the city.

Some of my favorites would have to be Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Shakespeare, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Rogers & Hammerstein.

I love going to the museums. I like to just spend hours admiring all the paintings, sculptures, pictures, sketches, etc. that can be found in the museums. As a photographer myself, I enjoy seeing others' work. I have always wanted to visit The Louvre Museum in Paris.

My role model is Alfred Steiglitz, the man who made photography into an art work.
